Operations Manager (EDI)

Illuminate is seeking an Operations Manager to join its Finance team in Edinburgh. The role will support the Illuminate Technologies business and has the overall responsibility for managing the strategic and day to day activities which enable the smooth running of the ILT International Business unit. The position provides varied experience in a newly established company with ambitious growth prospects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that business processes are in place to help manage the proposal and capture for International business development, this includes oversight of the order funnel, flash process and revenue and margin delivery.
  • Understands project delivery timetables to ensure successful solution delivery in-line with pre-agreed schedules.
  • Assist with formalising and communicating business processes across areas of responsibility (e.g. purchasing policy, travel policy, expense policy, customer quote > order).
  • Managing the strategy and day to day tactical requirements for Supply chain, procurement, inventory management and logistics for delivery of solutions across both ILT International and ILT US business units.
  • Site manager for International Sites, including the Edinburgh and Tel Aviv sites, ensuring that all services are delivered to keep the office running.
  • Oversight of any ongoing improvements, health and safety, Crisis Management and security requirements.
  • Oversight of IT requirements to support personnel in the EDI and Tel Aviv offices and close interaction with the Enterprise IT team and Chief Security Officer to enable day to day running of the required tools to deliver on the business strategy.
  • Performs first reviews of International contracts, NDAs, reseller or teaming with Contracts team to bring business context.
  • Ensures compliance throughout the term of the agreements, renews fixed-term agreements on time and ensures that contracts are entered into before customer delivery.
  • Management of all Insurances pertaining to the International sites and employees.
  • Works with finance on the formulation of budgets and then manages the Operations budget to avoid overspends and provides a continued effort to identify cost savings.

We’re looking for a dynamic, self-starting Business Development Manager to implement the Illuminate Technologies (ILT) business strategy and delivery of client account growth with exceptional customer relationship management. Principle Accountabilities:

  • Be the primary point of contact for sales & business development with assigned accounts or regional territory.

The successful candidate will work closely with the software development team to address technical issues related to software installations, functions and upgrades; and, support field engineers and customers in implementing customized solutions for their networks. The successful candidate is expected to work well on his/her own and within the broader Illuminate organization.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with the Technical Support and R&D Teams in Edinburgh and Los Angeles to:

  • Provide support to the field engineers based in Maryland, Illuminate labs (CA), customer labs or customer sites
  • Design, implement and maintain support tools used to monitor daily health and status of systems
  • Create/maintain data gathering and troubleshooting tools for use by field engineers and internal developers as required
  • Analyze logs, stack traces, debug libraries, software/hardware telemetry and read/verify/improve documentation
  • Support and troubleshoot production systems both remotely and on-site

  • Participate in customer-facing meetings to review operational status of deployed systems
  • Provide system installation support to include: package breakout and installation of equipment; create installation drawings/instructions, manage cables (to include fiber, coaxial and twisted pair); install initial OS and application software; generate as-built documents; configure initial system and checking equipment for proper operation; and, provide troubleshooting support
  • Provide ongoing support of installed base through remote and on-site troubleshooting; install hardware and software updates
  • Provide solution design recommendations; plan and coordinate large- and small-scale network projects within a multi-vendor infrastructure environment consisting of voice and data communication networks
  • Provide multi-level on-site customer training for conducting site surveys, planning and installing system functionality and system operation (Locations for equipment installation are international and require temporary deployments anywhere from two to six weeks in duration)
  • Provide local and/or remote support for network planning, lab testing, lab support, troubleshooting and system administration support for systems deployed in the field or in customer lab facilities
  • Support sales personnel in pre-sales activities for new business opportunities
  • Write how-to’s and knowledge-based articles
  • Assist with subcontractor development efforts
  • Occasionally provide 24/7 support

Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Active or current TS/SCI (U.S. citizenship required)

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, NAT, routing and switching
  • Experience with firewall and vpn configuration
  • Experience with Wireshark and analyzing logs, stack traces, debug libraries, software/hardware telemetry and reading/ verifying/ improving documentation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift objects up to 50lbs without assistance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working Experience with Telco infrastructure: NSS (i.e., MSC, HLR, AUC, VLR, EIR), BSS (BTS, BSC, Common Air Interfaces), OSS (i.e., Inventory Systems, Customer Care/Billing Systems and gateways to transport information), SMSC, SGSN, GGSN and other ancillary components
  • Knowledge of the theory and principles of telecommunications (i.e., SS7, telco subsystems design/ architecture/ implementation/ configuration)
  • Linux system and network administration experience
  • Experience with scripting languages and programming; Python, Perl, Shell, VI, C, C++
